An opportunity has arisen for an associate to join a well-established employment team advising education sector clients across the full spectrum of employment law. The role sits within a broader business and professional risk group and offers genuine exposure to a specialist client base.

Day-to-day work spans advisory and contentious matters, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, redundancy programmes, flexible working, family-friendly rights, holiday pay and contractual queries. You will also prepare tribunal claims and responses, draft witness statements and skeleton arguments, and conduct advocacy at hearings.

Beyond advisory and disputes work, the role involves drafting employment contracts, policies and procedures tailored to the education sector, advising on academy transfers and TUPE queries, and navigating union relations — including policy negotiations, restructures, changes to terms and conditions and industrial action.

The position is open across multiple UK regional offices and offers a flexible, hybrid working model with a comprehensive benefits package and enhanced parental leave.

  • A solid grounding in employment law
  • A genuine interest in the education sector
  • Ability to deliver solution-focused, commercially aware advice aligned to client needs
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues
  • A team-oriented approach and commitment to continuous development
