We are recruiting a Shipping, Trade & Commodities Associate to join a growing Singapore team handling maritime, trade and commodities work across the region. The role offers exposure to both contentious and transactional matters and close collaboration with senior lawyers across multiple jurisdictions.

Work will cover a broad range of shipping and trade issues — including charterparty and bills of lading disputes, cargo claims, shipbuilding matters, salvage, collisions and multi‑jurisdictional arbitration — acting for shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, insurers and brokers. The post offers substantive responsibility, regular client contact and a supportive environment with good work/life balance.

  • Qualified lawyer with 3–5+ years’ post‑qualification experience in dry shipping and/or international trade disputes.
  • Strong academic background (minimum upper‑second class degree or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and oral English; Mandarin skills are an advantage.
  • Proven legal research, drafting and analytical skills; able to apply legal principles to complex factual scenarios.
  • Ability to manage a caseload, meet tight deadlines and work independently while contributing to a team.
  • Comfortable with client contact and willing to support business development activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
