An established law firm is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join its risk management function in New York. This role is central to facilitating the lateral attorney and legal personnel hiring process firm-wide, with a focus on resolving conflicts of interest, conducting in-depth research on parties and matters, identifying potential conflicts, preparing waivers and notices, implementing ethical screens, and communicating with firm partners and lateral candidates.

The Conflicts Attorney will manage the lateral conflict process from submission through onboarding, advise attorneys on rules of professional conduct, draft and review conflict waiver letters, lateral notices, and ethical screening memos, and develop knowledge of conflicts rules across relevant jurisdictions and practice areas. Additional responsibilities include new business intake, engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, and legal research.

Active admission to the New York Bar (or bar of the jurisdiction where located)
At least 2 years' experience practicing law in a large law firm or in a conflicts department of a large law firm
Knowledge of practice areas including private equity, capital markets, banking and credit, bankruptcy, commercial and securities litigation
Knowledge of rules of professional conduct in various jurisdictions
Proficiency in internet and corporate database research, including SEC filings and corporate ownership research
Strong project planning, management, and execution skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a global team with tact and diplomacy
