Corporate Real Estate Associate (London)

An exciting opportunity to join a growing Corporate Real Estate practice in London. The team is hiring two associates: one at the NQ–1 PQE level and one at the 4–6 PQE level. The work focuses on real estate private equity and corporate real estate M&A, acting for financial sponsors, institutional investors, asset managers, developers and operators on public and private M&A, joint ventures, platform transactions and recapitalisations across UK, European and other cross-border deals.

This role is aimed at ambitious associates looking to build their career within a market-leading platform at the forefront of significant real estate transactions, across all major asset classes and for prestigious clients. The London real estate platform is growing, with recent senior hires strengthening capabilities, and forms part of a wider global Real Estate Practice Group.

The successful candidates can expect to work on matters including private M&A (acquisitions and disposals of property-rich companies, real estate-backed operating businesses, portfolios and single assets, and corporate carve-outs); public M&A (take-privates and other public-to-private transactions involving listed real estate companies and REITs); joint ventures, club deals, co-investments and programmatic ventures; platform transactions and asset management/manager M&A; recapitalisations, restructurings and exits; and the corporate structuring behind real estate investment, working alongside real estate, tax, finance and investment funds colleagues in London and internationally.

At the NQ–1 PQE level, there will also be the opportunity to work on corporate and private equity transactions outside the real estate sector, building a broad corporate grounding alongside real estate work.

• England & Wales qualified (or strong candidates from other common law jurisdictions)
• Trained and qualified at a leading international or top-tier commercial law firm
• For NQ–1 PQE: corporate lawyer with seat or early transactional experience in corporate/M&A, private equity or real estate, and a genuine interest in building a corporate practice in the real estate sector
• For 4–6 PQE: corporate lawyer with substantive transactional experience in the real estate sector, able to run deals day to day and supervise more junior team members
• Experience of, or exposure to, drafting and negotiating sale and purchase agreements, joint venture and shareholders’ agreements and associated documentation
• Experience of, or exposure to, corporate due diligence on property-rich companies, portfolios and platforms
• Strong academic credentials, technical legal skills, commercial judgement and attention to detail
• Proactive, collaborative and confident working directly with partners, clients and colleagues across practice areas
• Clear and effective communication with clients, counterparties and internal teams
