Am Law 100 global firm seeks a lateral Energy Partner to join its nationally ranked energy practice. The firm approaches energy from nearly every angle — transactional, regulatory, real estate, water, and public policy — and is a major player in traditional utility work and data center representation. The practice is Chambers-ranked, and the cross-office, cross-practice, cross-continent platform is designed to eliminate silos.
This role is focused on the transactional side of energy, with particular interest in structured finance. The firm is already strong on the regulatory side, so candidates with a regulatory-first profile are not a fit at this time.
Ideal Candidate
- Lateral partner (two-tier partnership; not lockstep) on the transactional energy side, with a portable book of business that can support the candidate independently.
- Portable book of business of $1.5M+ (USD), and a billing rate of at least $1,000/hour (ideally $1,100–$1,200).
- Priority locations are Washington, D.C. and Texas (Houston or Dallas); Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta are also viable for a group or duo.
- Strong preference for a group or duo, particularly for the oil and gas side.
- No service partners, no regulatory-agency candidates, and no in-house candidates.
If the brief does not read like an exact match, it is still worth a conversation — these mandates flex around the right practice.
