The role focuses on advising multinational clients on U.S.-China trade policy, customs, tariffs, export controls, sanctions, and cross-border data transfer issues affecting supply chains and cloud/telecom environments.
Responsibilities include counseling on regulatory strategy, representing clients in customs audits and enforcement matters, designing compliance programs, conducting internal audits and trainings, and supporting disclosures to government agencies. The position involves occasional domestic and international travel.
- J.D. or LL.M. from a U.S. law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. state
- Approximately 6 years of post-qualified experience as a practicing lawyer
- Demonstrated experience on U.S.–China trade matters, including customs, tariffs, export controls and sanctions
- Knowledge of WTO law and of regulations governing cross-border data transfers between the U.S. and China
- Experience handling customs audits, seizures/forfeitures, investigations, and designing corporate compliance procedures
- Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research platforms (Lexis/Westlaw); strong writing and cite-checking skills
