Short-term (4–5 month), full-time (hybrid) legal consultant role embedded with a major mining-sector organisation in Melbourne. The role is offered via a global firm's flexible legal-resourcing platform and provides hands-on, in-house style exposure while retaining consultant flexibility.

The successful candidate will provide senior employment and employee-relations advice across the full employee lifecycle, support engagement with regulators, and help update policies and procedures in line with legislative change and best practice. You will work closely with senior internal stakeholders, manage complex employment matters, and be expected to operate autonomously from day one.

  • Minimum 6 years' post-qualification experience in employment/industrial relations law
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES, modern awards, discrimination law and WHS obligations
  • Experience dealing with employment regulators (e.g. Fair Work Ombudsman, Industrial Relations Commission) and managing complex workplace matters
  • Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders, influence outcomes, negotiate and simplify complex issues
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills; right to live and work in Australia. Current practising certificate not essential.
