Apply in confidence →

A leading US law firm is seeking a Professional Responsibility Counsel to join its compliance and regulatory function, advising on the ethical and professional-conduct rules that govern legal practice. This is a true counselors' role: the work sits at the intersection of regulation, risk management and legal practice, supporting lawyers across a multi-office national platform.

You will serve as a trusted internal adviser on questions of professional responsibility — conflicts, confidentiality, client identity and engagement, fee arrangements and related regulatory obligations — and will help shape policies, training and controls that keep the firm ahead of evolving ethical standards.

The position is open across several US offices, offering flexibility on location and the opportunity to work with stakeholders firm-wide. This is a chance to apply deep knowledge of the rules of professional conduct in a sophisticated, collaborative environment.

  • Admission to a US state bar and a strong understanding of the rules of professional conduct and legal-ethics regulation
  • Prior experience in a law-firm professional responsibility, conflicts, risk or general counsel function, or comparable regulatory or legal-ethics experience
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters
  • Clear, practical written and verbal communication with lawyers at all levels
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented approach suited to a multi-office environment
