Senior Associate or Special Counsel opportunity within a busy commercial insurance team in Melbourne. The role focuses on defendant-side liability work, providing day-to-day claims handling, coverage advice and recovery actions for first-party property losses.

You will work with a mix of Australian and international insurers and large self-insured corporates, lead files, mentor junior lawyers and contribute to business development. The team supports flexible working arrangements and offers a clear progression path for experienced candidates.

Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in a well-regarded defendant insurance practice
Substantial experience in public liability, property damage and professional indemnity matters
Proven ability to provide coverage advice and run recovery actions
Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail and organisational skills
Demonstrated experience mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to business development
Willingness to work flexibly
