Solicitor, Catastrophic Loss & Major Injury — Bristol

An opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's largest and most nationally recognised Major Injury & Casualty teams, acting for a wide range of leading insurers on complex, catastrophic and large loss claims. The team is recruiting a Solicitor with a background in catastrophic loss or personal injury work.

The role combines assisting partners with running your own caseload of high-value defendant claims, spanning employer's liability, public liability and motor matters valued from £100,000 to £20m+. Work will involve injuries of the utmost severity, including brain and spinal injury, amputations, polytrauma, brachial plexus injury, severe psychiatric injury and chronic pain, along with engaging medical causation issues.

Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings and client reports, attending court hearings, liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and working to court deadlines and client service level agreements. You will also build internal and external relationships to support client development.

The role is hybrid, based in Bristol with flexibility around office attendance and location.

• 2+ years' PQE in litigation and EL/PL, catastrophic injury, large loss or serious injury work
• Experience of cases valued at £100,000+
• Technical experience across EL, PL, motor, catastrophic/serious injury, or large/complex loss
• Ideally experienced handling high-value defendant files, whether independently or assisting senior team members
• Familiarity with working in a commercial environment
• Strong deadline management and ability to prioritise a varied workload
• Defendant work experience and an enthusiasm to develop skills and knowledge are desirable
