A full-service Am Law 100 firm is seeking an attorney to join its Transportation Practice in Chicago. The team is extensively involved in defending the trucking and freight industry, representing carriers, brokers, insurers, public entities, school bus operators, and waste management groups in both intra-state and interstate transportation matters.

The practice handles significant litigation and trial work spanning negligent hiring and retention, hours-of-service issues, engine control module and telematics data, DOT compliance, and accident reconstruction. The incoming attorney will manage matters from initial pleadings through discovery, motions practice, and depositions.

Admitted to practice in Illinois
Three to six years of insurance defense experience
Experience handling heavy trucking, tractor-trailer, and cargo/freight carrier matters
Admission in Michigan is a plus
Comfortable drafting and responding to discovery and initial pleadings
Experienced drafting and arguing motions and taking and defending depositions
Strong writing and analytical skills; able to manage multiple projects independently and as part of a team
