A national law firm seeks a Senior Associate to join its sophisticated employee benefits and executive compensation practice. The role may be based in any of the firm's offices, with a preference for certain major Midwest markets, and offers the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility within a collaborative, entrepreneurial team.

The successful candidate will advise employers, plan administrators, and service providers on a broad range of benefits and executive compensation matters, including counseling clients through corporate transactions and other significant business events. The practice handles matters involving governmental agencies as well.

This position is designed for an experienced lawyer seeking a long-term role, with potential consideration for advancement to partner or senior counsel over time depending on performance and practice needs. No path or promotion is guaranteed.

Five to eight years of relevant employee benefits and executive compensation experience
Meaningful transactional experience involving benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements
Experience representing employers, plan administrators, and service providers, including matters before governmental agencies
Strong working knowledge of ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code
Tax and/or accounting background a plus, but not required
Excellent academic credentials and superior written and interpersonal communication skills
Proactive, practical, collaborative, and entrepreneurial approach with sound judgment
Active bar license in the relevant office's state, or commitment to obtain one promptly
Portable book of business welcome but not necessary
