Apply in confidence →We are seeking experienced Financial Services lawyers to support a steady flow of work for leading financial institutions and corporate clients in Sydney. This is a flexible, consultant-style opportunity suited to seasoned lawyers who want greater control over how, when, and where they work while still engaging with market-leading matters.
The work spans banking and finance, derivatives and ISDA documentation, and insolvency and restructuring. You will advise on complex finance structures and asset classes, secondary debt trading, and the implementation of restructuring and insolvency processes. On the derivatives side, you will handle the preparation, review, and negotiation of transaction agreements and trading documents across a variety of products, with a focus on ISDA Master Agreements.
You will also support retail and business customer migrations, advising on bespoke migration journeys, customer communications, product builds, and application and internet functionality. This includes reviewing app screens, marketing campaigns, contract variation notices, and FAQs, and advising on compliance with misleading and deceptive conduct obligations, as well as Design and Distribution Obligations.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders and external advisers, triaging incidents, non-compliance events, regulatory breaches, and privacy breaches within a regulated environment, and providing pragmatic advice that balances legal, commercial, and customer considerations.
- Minimum of 6 years' post-qualification experience
- Current Australian practising certificate and right to live and work in Australia
- Strong banking and finance or financial services background
- Experience with derivatives and ISDA documentation, including negotiating ISDA Master Agreements
- Transactional experience across complex finance structures, secondary debt trading, and insolvency and restructuring processes
- Familiarity with the Corporations Act, Design and Distribution Obligations, ASIC Act, Banking Code of Practice, Privacy Act, and ePayments Code
- Experience advising on customer migrations, product builds, and customer communications
- Sound commercial and legal judgment with the ability to manage regulatory and commercial risk
- Pragmatic, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced environment
