A nationally recognized employment and labor law practice seeks an Of Counsel attorney to join its Detroit office. The team advises and defends employers across the full spectrum of workplace issues, from proactive policy development and counseling to high-stakes litigation.

The role involves defending and litigating lawsuits and agency charges arising from a broad range of employment-related claims, and representing employers in court, arbitration, before administrative agencies, and at mediation. Matters include class and collective actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour, contract, employment tort, and non-compete disputes.

The position also includes advising, counseling, and training employers on employment and labor law issues. Attorneys collaborate closely with clients to build strong policies and practical, business-oriented solutions that support stable, high-functioning workforces.

JD from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
9+ years of employment litigation experience, including significant first-chair case management
Current state bar admission in good standing (Michigan)
Experience supervising associate and paralegal work, including delegating assignments and providing feedback
In-depth knowledge of current state and federal agency procedures
Class action experience is preferred but not required
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and project management abilities, and commitment to professionalism and teamwork
