Partner — Tax (Montreal)

Leading global law firm is seeking a lateral tax partner to establish and grow a tax practice in its Montreal office. This role is for an experienced, market-facing partner who will lead origination, client relationships and team development in a market where the firm has limited existing tax capacity.

There is no internal pipeline of tax work — the successful candidate must be self-sustaining and able to bring and develop their own client base. Candidates with a strong private client/estate planning book are of particular interest; transactional tax lawyers without an established, portable book are not a fit.

• Portable book of business of $1M+ (USD)
• Established tax partner with demonstrable origination and client management experience
• Proven ability to build and lead a practice in Montreal (team hiring/management)
• Private client / estate planning experience desirable; transactional tax specialists considered only if they bring a portable book
