Apply in confidence →We are seeking a Privacy Counsel to join a global law firm's Office of General Counsel. The role will support the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the firm's privacy programme across multiple jurisdictions (EU/UK/US and other international regimes) and may sit in London, Brussels or Paris.
The successful candidate will work closely with compliance, information security, operations and other stakeholders to advise on cross‑border data transfers, privacy‑by‑design, incident response, vendor processing, DPIAs/PRAs and regulatory engagement. You will also support privacy training, committee work and maintenance of privacy policies, registers and contractual clauses.
- Qualified lawyer with an accredited law degree and valid licence to practise.
- Minimum six (6) years' relevant experience in privacy/data protection (in‑house or client‑facing), including cross‑border data transfers and incident response.
- Strong working knowledge of EU/UK GDPR and practical application; familiarity with US and other international privacy regimes or aptitude to develop same.
- Demonstrable experience drafting/negotiating data processing/transfer agreements, conducting DPIAs/PRAs, handling DSARs and managing breach investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management and project management skills; ability to translate complex legal concepts for non‑legal audiences.
- Data protection/privacy certification preferred (e.g., CIPP, CIPT, ISEB).
