Associate, Catastrophic Injury (Defendant Insurance)

A nationally recognised catastrophic injury practice is seeking an experienced Associate to join its rapidly expanding team, working on complex, high-value defendant personal injury cases across motor, employer's liability, and public liability claims. The caseload involves life-changing injuries, sensitive circumstances, and matters that frequently attract national media attention, with cases led by senior partners who are widely regarded as market leaders in this field.

You will work closely with the practice's UK Head of Catastrophic Injury, playing a pivotal role in shaping case strategy, mentoring junior lawyers, and delivering exceptional client service. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of some of the most challenging and high-profile claims in the market, while contributing to the continued growth of a highly specialised and supportive team.

Clients include large composite and motor insurers, London market insurers, and corporates. The team is consistently top-ranked in the major legal directories, known for its depth of expertise, technical strength, and innovative approach to resolving complex claims — including the use of in-house R&D and technology-enabled case strategy and data-driven decision-making. Matters frequently require cross-border quantum investigations drawing on a global network.

• 1–5 years' experience in a catastrophic injury role (guideline only)
• Proven defendant claims handling experience across any combination of motor, employer's liability, and public liability
• In-depth knowledge of the Ogden tables and future losses
• Experience assisting on large cases within a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
