An established Financial and Professional Risks team is seeking a Solicitor or Associate to advise insurers and defend professionals against allegations of professional negligence. This is an opportunity to join one of the larger defendant professional liability practices outside London, within a supportive, collaborative and sociable team.

The role involves running your own caseload of pre-action and litigated claims while also supporting senior team members on their files. You will handle disclosure review, costs budgeting, instructions to counsel and experts, legal research on liability and quantum, and preparation of court documents including defences, allocation questionnaires and hearing bundles.

The position can be based in either of the team's northern offices, with a minimum of two days per week in the office and the remainder flexible.

Ideally 1–5 years' PQE in commercial litigation and professional negligence claims; NQs, trainees and paralegals with relevant specific experience will also be considered
Prior experience of financial and professional risks, professional negligence or professional indemnity claims is preferred
At least a 2:1 law degree, or a 2:1 non-law degree plus a PGDL (applications with mitigating circumstances welcome)
Strong grasp of Civil Procedure Rules, case law and legal principles
Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach
