An established litigation team in Manchester is hiring an Associate to handle claims against police forces and other public authorities. The role involves managing a mixed caseload of pre‑litigation and defended matters, including catastrophic injury and large‑loss claims instructed by insurers and public bodies.

You will run your own fast‑track and multi‑track files, support senior colleagues on complex and sensitive matters, and work on high‑profile group litigation and public inquiry instructions. The role offers a supportive team environment and a hybrid working pattern (two days in office, three remote).

2–5 years PQE in civil litigation (defendant/insurance or public authority experience preferred)
Proven experience handling claims involving police/public authorities, catastrophic injury or large‑loss EL/PL matters
Ability to manage a caseload, draft pleadings and witness statements, and prepare instructions for counsel and experts
Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to meet deadlines
Comfortable handling sensitive, high‑value matters and participating in trials, ADR and client meetings
