A leading national law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and AI Associate to join its technology practice in Raleigh. The role sits within a data privacy group known for an inclusive, collegial and supportive atmosphere where lawyers are supported to learn and advance.

The associate will advise a wide range of clients on analyzing and mitigating risks related to the collection, storage, distribution and use of data. Core work includes privacy counseling and guidance, drafting and reviewing data retention policies, data privacy and data processing agreements, incident response plans, incident reports and breach notifications, and supporting data breach response matters.

The position also covers artificial intelligence matters, with an expectation of staying current on state and federal privacy and AI laws as well as cybersecurity regulations.

Ideally 1–3 years of relevant data privacy experience, with at least one year in data privacy, data protection and/or data security
Demonstrated interest in the field, including CIPP certification
Some experience with AI matters preferred
Some experience with incident response and data breach matters preferred
Solid academic record, strong legal research and writing skills, and keen attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative
Active and admitted to the local state bar, or eligible to waive in
