We are seeking an experienced Family Law Associate to join a market-leading family law team in San Diego. The team advises on all areas of family law with a particular emphasis on the financial issues that arise when relationships are formalised or break down, including the negotiation and settlement of complex financial cases—often with an international perspective and complicated by tax or trust considerations.

This role involves handling both contentious and non-contentious family matters for a diverse client base. Work includes managing divorce cases with complex financial disputes, property division and spousal support, and representing clients in child custody, visitation and paternity matters. The team also maintains a strong prenuptial and marital agreements practice, frequently with international elements, and advises on cross-border custody, asset division, adoption, guardianship and parental rights.

The wider team is supported by in-house experts across private client and tax, trust litigation, corporate and employment, providing detailed advice at short notice to clients seeking the optimal jurisdiction to file proceedings. The successful candidate will also contribute to the team's profile through business development, thought leadership and building networks with private wealth contacts and intermediaries.

5–8 years' experience practicing in a law firm's family law group
J.D. required; California Bar membership in good standing required
Experience advising on all areas of family law, both contentious and non-contentious
Proven ability managing a busy practice independently, including time recording and deadline management
Strong interest in contributing to the firm's success, including mentoring junior team members
Practical, client-focused approach and ability to inspire confidence in clients and referrers
