An elite national labor and employment practice seeks experienced counsel to join its flexible, fully remote hourly team. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting employment matters with a top-ranked team without the demands of a full-time, partner-track position. You will be a member of a highly trained group of employment lawyers, working alongside partners and other experienced attorneys on a variety of litigation and agency matters.

The position is fully remote, though you will be affiliated with one of the firm's national offices. You will handle management-side employment litigation, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing dispositive motions. You will also defend EEOC charges, prepare position statements, represent clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiate settlements. The role offers the freedom to choose your own schedule and workload, with no billable hour requirement or marketing obligations.

The firm provides competitive hourly compensation and benefits, as well as a collegial and cooperative environment where lawyers share ideas and best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for former partners, senior associates, or in-house counsel seeking interesting work with greater flexibility.

  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible employment litigation experience, preferably management-side
  • Experience in federal and state court practice, as well as before the EEOC, Department of Labor, and other administrative agencies
  • Litigation experience including drafting responsive pleadings, managing all aspects of discovery, and drafting motions, including motions for summary judgment
  • Ability to handle EEOC charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, defending clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, representing clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiating settlements
  • Collegiate, cooperative approach and enjoy working with experienced lawyers sharing ideas, resources, and best practices
  • Strong time management skills and flexibility around workflow
  • Active bar license in the state of residence and in a state where the firm maintains an office
  • Willingness to commit to approximately 1000 or more hours per year, depending on casework
