Join the General Counsel & Compliance team as Legal Counsel specialising in data protection and privacy. You will act as a subject-matter expert across the business, providing pragmatic legal advice on UK and international data protection obligations and supporting incident response, audits and regulatory engagement.

The role sits within a central legal/compliance function and involves managing data breaches, handling data subject requests, supporting notifications to regulators, and leading privacy audits. You will work collaboratively across operational teams to balance legal risk with practical commercial outcomes.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, offering a supportive benefits package and development opportunities within a well-established international firm environment.

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience (private practice, in-house or regulatory authority)
  • Proven expertise in data protection and privacy law, including managing data breaches, DSARs and regulatory notifications
  • Experience conducting privacy audits and advising on cross-border data transfers
  • Strong communicator able to present complex legal issues to legal and non-legal stakeholders
  • Commercially minded, organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Desirable: privacy certifications (e.g. CIPP/BCS), data governance or information security experience, and international data protection experience
