Apply in confidence →A Charlotte-based real estate practice seeks a mid-level finance associate with at least four years of experience to join a Chambers-ranked team. The role centers on representing institutional lenders, investment banks, and CMBS platforms in the origination of CMBS and CLO loans secured by commercial real estate across office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial asset classes.
The successful candidate will work directly on all stages of the loan lifecycle — drafting, reviewing, and negotiating loan agreements, promissory notes, mortgages and deeds of trust, guarantees, and ancillary documents. Responsibilities also include overseeing due diligence (zoning reports, leases, organizational documents, and third-party reports), structuring transactions to satisfy securitization requirements, and advising clients on issues affecting securitization eligibility and marketability.
Candidates should be comfortable coordinating closings and transaction timelines with clients, borrower's counsel, and third-party service providers, and supporting post-closing and loan review work in anticipation of securitization. Familiarity with rating agency criteria — including treatment of ground leases, cash management, and structural features — is important, along with strong academics, excellent writing skills, and close attention to detail.
The group offers a collegial, high-performance environment with genuine opportunities for professional growth and advancement, working within a team grounded in mutual respect and collaboration.
