Experienced IP/ commercial lawyer sought to join a national Commercial IPCT team in Birmingham. The role combines commercial contracting (supply, distribution, agency, logistics, IT/SaaS, outsourcing and facilities), non-contentious IP and trademark portfolio work, plus advisory work on data protection and compliance (including anti-bribery and modern slavery).

You will act as a trusted adviser to a varied client base, handling contract drafting and negotiation, managing trademark portfolios, and providing pragmatic advice on IP licensing, data protection and procurement-related matters. The team is client-focused, responsive and increasingly busy, offering strong exposure to diverse transactional matters.

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with current practising certificate.
  • Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with demonstrable IP and commercial experience.
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts (eg supply, distribution, IT/SaaS, outsourcing).
  • Experience of IP licensing, trademark portfolio management and handling non-contentious IP matters.
  • Practical knowledge of data protection (UK GDPR) and compliance issues including anti-bribery and modern slavery.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical and communication skills; able to manage multiple matters and build client relationships.
