Established Compensation & Benefits team in New York is hiring a senior attorney to focus on tax-qualified retirement plans and health & welfare/ERISA matters. The role involves counseling on plan design, administration, compliance and related regulatory requirements, and supporting benefit-related issues in corporate transactions.

Day-to-day work will include drafting plan documents and disclosures, handling compliance testing, preparing and responding to IRS and DOL filings and audits, and managing correction matters. Experience with ESOPs and plan-asset issues is a plus. The team provides a comprehensive benefits package and standard paid time off and parental leave.

  • Minimum 6 years of post-qualification ERISA/benefits experience advising on tax-qualified retirement plans and health & welfare plans
  • Experience with plan design, administration, compliance testing, IRS and DOL filings/audits, and correction matters
  • Experience counseling on benefits issues in mergers, acquisitions and other transactions
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and oral communication skills; excellent academic credentials
  • Experience with ESOP transactions and ERISA plan-asset rules preferred
