Apply in confidence →An opportunity has arisen in a national regulatory team for a solicitor or associate to handle a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters. The team advises individuals and organisations facing criminal investigations and prosecutions, including corporate and gross negligence manslaughter, and breaches of health and safety, fire safety, food safety and environmental law, alongside product safety, inquests and public inquiries.
The practice is instructed on a number of high-profile cases and investigations and maintains a substantial pipeline of work. Clients span major industries and their insurers, and the team works closely with lawyers in complementary practice groups. Lawyers are encouraged to build their own client relationships from an early stage, with support from partners and legal directors.
This role sits within a growing national team and is focused on strengthening coverage in the North West region, with the successful candidate expected to travel at short notice to support clients as situations develop.
- At least 5 years' PQE gained in a regulatory and/or commercially focused environment, in private practice or elsewhere.
- Experience of regulatory work including investigations by the police, HSE and other regulators, witness interviews, interviews under caution, prosecutions, sentencing hearings and inquests.
- Experience of preparing representations to regulators and providing non-contentious compliance advice to clients.
- Exposure to areas such as environmental breaches, trading standards, product safety, food safety, fire safety or vehicle operator licensing would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience of business development and building client relationships.
- Willingness to travel at short notice; a driving licence is preferable.
- Strong file management, reporting and time-recording disciplines.
